Journey to the old steel town
By Brent on Jul 3, 2009 | In Holidays & Excursions
Newcastle Australia, just like its namesake, Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, is a coal mining town and was also a steel Milling town, today it has followed along the same lines as it's sister city in the UK with a vibrant business and cultural center, a 90 minute drive from my home, some 130km's.
Today I visited Newcastle as my wife's car needed to be serviced at the original dealership, "Newcastle City Holden", I did have the foresight to pre-book a courtesy car so I was mobile for the six hour wait, visited my mate from the gaming world, "Slackone" and chewed the FFAT over coffee (where were the biscuits Slack?). Took a drive up the beach and along to Nobby's Head and ended up sitting at the dealership for an hour, watching the wide-screen plasma and trying to drain the coffee machine of it's cappuccino. Needed to get the groceries on the way home so I stopped off at Raymond Terrace Super Market, oh joy oh fun.... ![]()
