Qld Holiday

Recently my wife and I took a short holiday on the Gold coast at Surfers paradise, Qld, Australia, the short video below shows a little of our getaway.
It was a bright and balmy week that second week in May, the beach was clean and relatively empty as compared to summer and jumping into the water was like dipping oneself into liquid bliss.
The drive from home was quite uneventful although one must say that 650km's over an 8 hour period did see it's share of toilet breaks and coffee top-ups.
Not knowing what to expect when we checked into our room, we were pleasantly surprised to find we were located on the top floor of the 6 storey building with ocean views, the room was well appointed with every convenience one would ask for and the manager was extremely helpful and courteous.
Our apartment was just 100 meters from the shoreline giving cause for Jullie and I to venture down every morning for the final few hours of the forenoon, bake a while in the autumn sun and refresh ourselves in the caressing embrace of the ocean.
Every afternoon we lazed around the apartment for a few hours taking in the vista from the balcony or just laying back on the couch with a good book in hand enjoying the here and now and thankful of our place in time and space.
Late afternoons saw us frequent a coffee shop or bar, do a little window shopping, sometimes a walk around the local area and environs was the order of the day, but eventually all good things must come to a pause, I say pause because they never really come to an end, not when you view life as a great adventure that is.
Fortunately for us the return trip was just as uneventful as the journey there, I say fortunately, as on one radio news report while en route, approximately 100km behind us there had been a car accident blocking the highway for several hours.
The great thing about arriving home was the unconditional love the dog "Jack" showed when we picked him up from the Pet motel and the "oh so you finally returned" attitude of the two cats, Berry and Casey showed as we pulled into the car port, it was only after the first hour of aloofness by them both that they decided our laps and continuous purring would be appropriate behavior.
Yes the holiday was great but it is true what they say, "There's no place like home".
